Generating your first animation

Once the addon is installed you can start using the tool.

  1. Open the Toolbar:

    • Click the small arrow on the right edge of the Blender viewport to reveal the toolbar.

    • You should see the Animatica tab.

  1. Load the Base Character:

  • Click Load Character.

  • An armature (skeleton) will be loaded into your scene.

  1. Initial Setup:

  • The base model comes with one keyframe set at frame 0.

  • Select the loaded armature.

  • Switch to Pose Mode:

    • From the top-left corner of the 3D Viewport, click the mode dropdown (default: Object Mode).

    • Select Pose Mode.

  1. Set Timeline:

  • Expand the timeline scrubber at the bottom of Blender.

  • Change the End Frame to 128.

  • Move the timeline scrubber to frame 128.

You don't need to set it to 128, you could set it to for example frame 68. Note however, that sequences longer than 128 frames will have degraded performance at this time.

  1. Move the Armature and Keyframe:

  • With the armature selected, press G then Y to move it forward along the Y-axis.

  • Press I to insert a keyframe.

  1. Generate Animation:

  • Go back to the Animatica Panel.

  • Enter a text prompt in the input box (e.g., type run).

  • Click Generate.

  1. Preview Animation:

  • A new red armature appears — this is the animation preview.

  • You have three options:

    • Accept — bake the generated animation onto your original armature.

    • Reject — delete the generated animation.

    • Regenerate — create a new animation, replacing the previous preview.
